I was born in 1983 and raised in Dayton, Ohio. I have been exploring all aspects of what it means to be creative. From graphic design, illustrating, photography, video, to offset press, silkscreening and web development, I am active in my pursuit of what it means to be an effective communicator.

I am currently residing in Eugene, Oregon, working as a marketing specialist and graphic designer for The Career Center at The University of Oregon. My role at the UO is to act as administrative marketing support through creating brand identity/awareness, developing marketing campaigns for events and program areas and educating students through the different printed and digital piece that are created. I also serve on two committees within the division; Multicultural Alliance and The Student Affairs Marketing Committee. In addition, I act as liaison between foster care students and the Career Center; creating awareness in what services and financial assistances are available to this underrepresented group.

Outside of my full-time job at the university, I work as a part-time pre-pressman and in-house graphic designer at a local printshop called Bourland Printing. I am responsible with juggling anywhere from 4 to 5 clients at anytime; working on a variety of graphic needs and setting up print-ready files to our offset and digital print teams.

A few of my passions, additionally are learning to play the ukelele and bass, hanging out with friends and loved ones and investing my time and talents in the ministry opportunities I am associated with.

I believe you have to love what you do. If you truly believe that, you will never work another day in your life. The attitude of working, goes from a have to, to a GET TO mindset. I am abnormally passionate at this thing called communicating and it is expressed daily in everything I put my hands to. You can be taught a series of process and steps, but if the passion is not present, than you will only get static vanilla results.

You have to be consistent in the field of design, to be an effective communicator. When working with a brand, it takes time, steady message pushing, unchanging tone, unbending awareness etc. It is really easy to deviate because you and your team sees it daily but one has to refrain for a time to allow your messaging to be received by your different audiences.

Collaboration is how things are done effectively and correctly. Good collaborations comes with persistence, leading by example, learning to get out of the way of our agendas,  being adaptive and listening to the all voices involved.

"Be so good that you can not be ignored." -Steve Martin

I have lived my life by this statement. There are a lot of good enough people out in this world producing good enough things and I have never wanted to be any of them. The way I strive to be exceptional is never being complacent, always being teachable and surrounding myself with people that push me, mentor me and celebrate with me in my accomplishments.

I have heard it  said that a lot of time and money is wasted in higher education; to an extent I agree. I believe this to be true because of the lack of accountability and  poor stewardship in daily operation. I feel this starts with the individual and that is why I have strived to be a good steward with my relationships, responsibilities, budges and time as an employee ] to all my shareholders.
